💛 Our First Two Weeks at Little Corner Academy Floortime! 💛
What an amazing first two weeks it has been at Little Corner Academy! We have officially begun our new year, and our rooms have been filled with learning, connection, creativity, laughter, and lots of new friendships. We are thrilled to welcome our new families into the Little Corner Academy community! We are so excited for you to experience what makes this program so UNIQUE! We can't wait to see where this year takes us and all of the wonderful things our learners will accomplish together.
Our program brings together education, therapy, social learning, play, communication, and relationship-building in a supportive environment designed to celebrate each learner as an individual. We are only two weeks in, and we already have so much to celebrate!
We are so excited to share a little bit about what we have been working on! Our first two units have been “All About Me” and “All About Our Families.” These units have given our learners the opportunity to learn more about themselves, share what makes them special, and begin getting to know the people who are important in their lives.
All About Me
During our All About Me unit, we have been working on recognizing, spelling, building, and writing our names. We have practiced identifying our names in different ways and used hands-on activities to make learning meaningful and fun.
We have also been incorporating our shapes, colors, fine motor skills, and communication skills throughout our daily activities. Our learners have been encouraged to make choices, express their interests, participate in activities with their peers, and build confidence in their growing abilities.
All About Our Families
As we moved into All About Our Families, our learners have been exploring the people who make up their families. We have been practicing naming and identifying family members, talking about who lives in our homes, and learning that every family can look different—and every family is special.
Our activities have provided opportunities for speech and language development, social interaction, early literacy, fine motor practice, and cognitive learning, all while connecting our lessons to something that is meaningful and familiar to each child.
Learning Through Connection
One of the things that makes Little Corner Academy Floortime so special is that learning doesn't happen in isolation. We are constantly looking for opportunities to connect with our learners through their interests, meet them where they are, and build learning into meaningful interactions.
These first two weeks have also been about meeting new friends, becoming comfortable in our routines, and building relationships with both peers and adults. We are already seeing our learners begin to find their place within our little community!

We feel incredibly fortunate to have the consistency and familiarity of teachers and therapists who have been part of our program for 6+ years. That continuity is so meaningful for our learners and families. Having familiar faces, trusted relationships, and adults who truly know our children helps create a sense of safety, comfort, and belonging.
